Bloom, little flower
"Where are you going?" said the sunflower to the daisy.
"It's time to move soils now" the daisy replied.
"But you've only just begun to grow."
"Yes, & because it is so, I must move on."
"Daisy, we were meant to bloom."
"I can't bloom here like I can over there" the daisy was adamant as she twisted and turned & tried to scurry her short stem out of the deep soil.
"You see sunflower, the soil is much too old now & I'm afraid that when my petals come in, they will not be as big or as saturated as they will be in new soil."
"Hmm" thought the sunflower, "I hadn't thought of it like that before."
A quiet pause remained as the sunflower was in thought & as the daisy continued to work.
"Daisy?"
"What is it?"
"If you leave now, you will uproot yourself too early & by the time you get to new soil, it will be much too late, you will never be able to bloom. This soil may feel old & it may seem as if you are not growing, but the beauty of being a flower is the beauty of the process. It takes but a few lovely things to make us grow, and we must trust that in the waiting, in the frequent rainfall, & in the times of sunshine, we are blooming. We must trust our Gardener, that He knew what He was doing when He planted us here. It is this very soil where we can grow into our very best selves, with the most beautiful petals & leaves anyone has ever seen!"
Daisy stopped her twisting & tugging as she settled in her soil. A calming peace came over her & she seemed satisfied with the sunflower's words.
"So, you mean to say that I am right where I need to be?"
Yes! You've got it! Bloom little flower, right where you are. Bloom."
